Meet Greg Berryman
I was born in Box Hill Hospital to my wonderful parents, Nina and William Berryman.
Growing up, I attended Box Hill State Primary School (since demolished) and later graduated from Koonung Secondary College before pursuing my education at Melbourne University.
The rest, as they say, is history.
I had the incredible opportunity to backpack across Europe for two years after dropping out of Uni., including a memorable six-month stint living on a kibbutz in Israel. Right on the Sea of Galilee, just below the Golan Heights.
It was a life-changing experience that allowed me to immerse myself in different cultures and gain a broader perspective on the world.
Which was further enhanced by our week long trek on the back of camels down the length of the Red Sea and out into the Sinai Desert.
Staying overnight with the Bedouins.
Following my overseas travels, I ventured into the professional realm as a computer nerd (now I'm a digital nomad) and have had the privilege of working in such bustling cities as Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, London, and later on New York for a brief 6 month stint.
Even Buenos Aires for 18 months, circa 2008 (where I managed to successfully master the Spanish language). Later to prove very useful when sailing around the Balearic Islands and then the Canary Islands enroute to the Caribbean.
I will always feel eternally grateful for the opportunities I've had and the connections I've made along the way.

2023 - Calvi and Beyond Calls
🌊⛵ Fresh off a smooth mostly overnight sail from Monaco, Alegria and I made our way to Calvi (Corsica) with some not so unexpected guests—schools of dolphins that kept pace.
Moored here just outside the port of Calvi (awaiting a berth allocation), it’s all about swapping stories with fellow sailors and travellers alike and looking ahead to the next journey.
Change? I welcome it. New faces? Even better.
As I sit here, charting the course ahead, the choices loom large—east towards the storied isle of Elba and the stunning vistas of the Amalfi Coast, or perhaps a jaunt down the rugged, windswept shores of Sardinia’s eastern coastline.
Wherever the wind may guide us, Alegria is always ready to catch the breeze (whether I am or not is another matter).
To friends checking in and those remembering the good times, keep an eye on where the tide takes us next.
Cheers from the cockpit—"where life is as simple as the sea is deep" (Joshua Slocum - first person to sail solo around the world).
